ImSimQA™ in the spotlight at AAPM

Posted on Jul 16, 2012

ImSimQA™, manufactured by OSL, was under the spotlight at AAPM in July. Three eminent Physicists working in North America presented on why and how ImSimQA is a valuable tool for the critical QA of advanced medical imaging practice.

John Miller of Modus Medical (ImSimQA North American distributor), Jason Pukala, Kristy Brock PhD, Jean Pouliot PhD, Dean Willems of OSL

A packed hall with over 150 participants heard how leading north american physicists are facing the challenge of quality control for clinical deformable image registration algorithms, now bursting onto the radiotherapy scene. They described how OSL's QA software ImSimQA is being used in differing ways to validate DIR, auto contouring and advanced clinical systems.

The seminar focused on Deformable Image Registration and Fusion: Clinical Implementation and Quality Assurance. Topics included;

Ensuring Safe Clinical Implementation of Image Registration and Data Fusion: Acceptance Testing and Quality Assurance

Kristy Brock PhD, Medical Physicist University Health Network, Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto

Quantifying the Accuracy of Clinical Deformable Image Registration and Fusion Algorithms

Jean Pouliot PhD, Professor and Vice Chair, Department of Radiation Oncology, Director of Physics Division UCSF, Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center

Creating Clinically Relevant Deformation Maps from Pre- and Post-Treatment Patient Image Sets

Jason Pukala, Medical Physics Fellow, MD Anderson Cancer Center Orlando
