Giraffe multi-layer ion chamber device

Giraffe consists of a stack of 180 independent air vented integral parallel plate ionization chambers for fast measurement of particle beams with high resolution.

The device has a native resolution of 2 mm and a circular shape collecting electrode with a diameter of 12 cm. The high resolution allows the measurements of Percentage Depth Dose over the whole clinical range (up to 33 cm).

Instantaneous extraction of the Bragg Peak beam parameters during system QA consistency checks using automatized proton analysis software tools

EMXX-4 Electrometer

Giraffe is used in combination with dedicated emXX-4 multi-channel electrometer. The electrometer is based on TERA technology and offers full parallel readout on 200 channels with a sampling time down to 10ms.
