Dosimetry Check™

The world’s first commercially available patient transit dose system

Dosimetry Check™ soſtware works with any Amorphous-Silicon imaging system to provide pre -treatment and in-vivo transit dose QA.

Treatment techniques include VMAT, RapidArc, conventional IMRT and stereotactic deliveries

Dosimetry Check IGQA eliminates the need for a phantom by allowing physicists, therapists and doctors to see the dose distribution on the patient’s CT plan rather than through planar images. Some of the benefits and advantages of the Dosimetry Check IGQA technology over other phantom based systems include:

  • 3D Absolute Dose calculation
  • Works with any RTP System
  • Supports VMAT and Rapid Arc™
  • Works with Elekta iView™ portal imager, and Siemens Optivue™
  • Works with Varian’s PortalVision™ using both R and E arms
  • Measured Dose Verification using Patient CT image data
  • Structured Analysis: 3D Dose Volume (DVH) and Gamma Volume Histograms
  • Actual 3D Absolute Dose (measured analysis) vs. 3D predicted dose from any plan
  • Works with any linear ion chamber or diode 2D array to achieve full 3D analysis

Dosimetry Check Implementation in Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle

“The radiographers here in Carlisle were keen and eager to be one of the first departments to implement Dosimetry Check and overall the experience has been an extremely positive one, despite the obvious additions to our workflow. Changes to practice include the daily acquisition of calibration images, and additional exporting of both images and treatment plans into Dosimetry Check, and of course the process of running the final report. However by breaking up these additional steps into separate tasks throughout the day, we have found the overall impact to be minimal.”

“As far as radiographers are concerned, the benefits of implementing Dosimetry Check have certainly outweighed the negatives. Here in Carlisle, there had been no routine method for undertaking in vivo dosimetry prior to Dosimetry Check. When asked how they had felt about the change to practice, radiographers stated that they had enjoyed the challenge Dosimetry Check had brought, and also felt increased satisfaction of both acquiring new skills but also of the additional reassurance of the knowledge that the treatment being delivered is safe treatment. As we embark upon treatment techniques that are continually gaining in complexity, I feel this reassurance will become ever more vital.”

Choice of Dosimetry Check for In Vivo Dosimetry within the NECN

“When the North of England Cancer Network Radiotherapy Group was developing a strategy to ensure compliance with the Cancer Peer Review standards, Dosimetry Check was the system chosen to implement in vivo dosimetry across the three radiotherapy centres. It was selected to accommodate the range of requirements for the three centres each with linacs from different manufacturers. On evaluation Dosimetry Check was perceived to have a number of advantages. It offered a solution with minimal impact on treatment times, very important in the busiest centres, and could accommodate a wide range of treatment techniques for most anatomical sites. With a common solution for in vivo dosimetry the three centres have been able to develop a co-ordinated approach to implementation and have benefited from sharing experience across the three sites. A strategy to report results across the NECN is in progress to ensure equity of access and utilisation of in vivo dosimetry.”
