Posicast® Thermoplastics

CIVCO's Posicast thermoplastic material has been specifically developed for radiotherapy applications and provides excellent positioning and reproducibility during treatment. It does not stick to the skin or hair. If needed, Posicast adheres to itself by applying local pressure. The patented composition of this unique product results in minimal shrinkage after cooling.

CIVCO's Posicast thermoplastic materials are available in Multiperfo and Microperfo versions depending on the selected material. Microperfo masks are preferred when small sized treatmen fields are to be marked on the mask.

Posicast-Plus has two different coatings: a soft polyurethane coating on the side which is in direct contact with the patients skin and a smooth spray-coating on the outside where treatment fields are to be marked directly onto the mask. This material is comfortable on the skin and offers the possibility of precise field marking. Minimal shrinkage of the material ensures rigid and reproducabile fixation. Only available in Micro-perfo material.


With a smooth spray coating on both sides, Posicast-Lite feels like a traditional thermoplastic. However, its polycaprolactone core ensures a rigid and reliable fixation. Posicast-Lite is available in Multiperfo and Microperfo.



There are a wide variety of thermoplastic precuts available. Rectangular plates are available allowing technologists to cut the material in any desired shape. All types are sold in sets of 10 pieces. The materials have a thickness of 2.3mm. Precuts are available with reloadable or disposable L-profile mask attachment handles.

By using radiotransparent L-profiles fitted with durable quick fasteners, a rigid mask can be moulded around the contours of the patient. With this method air gaps between the inside of the mask and the head of the patiet are prevented, resulting in a very reliable, stable mask,
